Ideal for housing our wider LED strip lights (particularly our IP rated tapes), the 2m Wide Recessed Aluminium Profile/Extrusion With Clip-In Frosted Diffuser can improve the look and lifespan of any strip light display.

The frosted diffuser will offer additional protection to your LED tape, but it will also conceal the tape from view. You'll get very aesthetically pleasing diffusion of light, which reduces the dotting effect that some tapes can create.

That makes this profile a particularly good choice for installations where the tape won't be hidden from view. It's particularly popular for outdoor displays as a result, especially around decking.

As a recessed design, this profile doesn't come with brackets for surface mounting, although it will come equipped with end caps. You can also purchase extra end caps if you're going to be cutting your tapes down to specific sizes.

Helping Your Lights Last

While the main reason to use profiles is to make your lights look better, our aluminium profiles can actually extend the lifespan of your LED strips by about 50%. That's about 75,000 hours of use all told. That's up to 20 years in total.

LED tape can last for a while on its own, but the aluminium of our profiles is a fantastic dissipater of heat. This helps your strips run at a lower temperature, reducing the strain on them and helping them last far longer.

More often than not, it's not the light that fails, it's the adhesive on the back. While we use 3M industrial grade adhesive on our tapes, we cannot guarantee this will stick to all surfaces, so profiles are a great way to get extra certainty.
