Protection From The Elements

One of the things that this Mean Well 240V LED transformer comes with out of the box is IP65 protection. But what does this mean?

IP ratings are comprised of 2 parts these are simply the 2 digits of the IP number, and each one corresponds to something different.

The first digit provides a measure of the level of protection against foreign bodies, with the second digit doing the same but for moisture.

With that in mind, let's apply this to our transformer. It has an IP rating of 65. The 6 means it is completely dust proof, and the 5 means it can withstand light jets of water from any direction.

With this, you can use the transformer outside, as it can stand up to the worst that nature can throw at it.
